What we designed and built
Our client needed a robust and enclosed space for welding operations, one that could withstand heat, sparks, and heavy use, while also offering proper ventilation and electrical access. For this purpose, we selected a 20ft HC ex-reefer container. An ex-reefer is a used refrigerated container where the cooling machinery has been replaced with and insulated sandwich panel. Because all interior surfaces are stainless steel and aluminum, the container can hand handle heat and welding sparks without issues.
We customized the unit with the electrical and ventilation features needed for daily welding work. Inside, we added a 16A power supply and a double socket, as well as LED lighting and a heater to make the space practical and comfortable to use. To improve durability under heavy use, the standard T-floor was covered with a new steel floor.
Ventilation was arranged with a duct fan and a disc valve mounted on opposite walls to circulate the air through the container and direct it outside via the valve. In addition, we created a custom opening in the container wall for the welding machine’s own ventilation system. The container is supplied with 400V, 32A power to support its electrical equipment.
This project turns a robust ex-reefer container into a compact welding workshop that safely handles heat, sparks and everyday use.
